How to choose a Shia prayer app
Look for transparent calculation methods, configurable notifications, privacy controls and clear Ja'fari support.
Criteria
Does it name its calculation method? Can you choose a Ja'fari profile? Can you set a city manually? Can you adjust notifications per prayer? Can you see where its times come from?
Accuracy
Compare a candidate app's times against a locally reviewed timetable for a full week, paying particular attention to Fajr and Maghrib. One matching day proves nothing.
Privacy
An app that demands continuous background location for a daily timetable is asking for more than it needs. Manual city entry should always be possible.
Accessibility
Check text size, contrast, screen-reader labelling and whether the Azan can be replaced with a discreet notification.
