Azan clock or phone app?

An app travels with you, updates easily and costs nothing to try, but competes with silent mode, battery optimisation and everything else on the phone. A dedicated device is always in the same place, visible to the whole household, and does not need unlocking.

Commuters and travellers are usually better served by an app. Households where several people share a routine, or where someone does not carry a smartphone, usually prefer a fixed device.

Apps miss calls when notifications are restricted. Devices are fixed to one room and depend on their manufacturer for updates. Neither removes the need to set the correct method.
